Many people who have spent the last few weeks not being able to go to work or take part in their favourite hobbies due to lockdown restrictions are most likely getting pretty bored by now. Therefore, this could be the perfect opportunity to add some life to your house by redecorating.

Although the government has eased restrictions in the last few days, this has made little impact on being able to source the decorating tools, equipment and materials you might need to renovate your property. That is why homeowners will have to think out of the box if they want to revamp their living room or bedroom during quarantine.

Although some places are still delivering paints and soft furnishings at the moment, there are plenty of things you can do if you can’t get your hands on what you need.

For instance, Ideal Home says “begging and borrowing items like paint, a rotary sander and even old house bricks (!) from next-door neighbours” could be good ideas, as well as making use of tester pots in the garage.

These could be used to paint the stairs, for example, which would add a splash of colour to the hallway. Alternatively, you could make a garden path or edge a border in the garden with old bricks, which would create the landscaped look.

If you have leftover wallpaper, the publication recommends creating a vibrant atmosphere to bathrooms by plastering it on part of the wall.

“All that white sanitaryware does put a bathroom in danger of feeling cold and clinical. One way to add colour is to paper the walls in an on-trend botanical print. you can use any wallpaper to do this  – as long as you treat it correctly,” the article suggests.

You could also use this time to get inspired for a big home renovation project, so you know exactly what you want when you call interior designers in Surrey to update your home.
