Examining why this is, the news provider identified several key factors common to properties in the capital that would be less of a consideration elsewhere.
It noted that a loft conversion does create extra space that can be used for work or leisure purposes, although of course one could argue the same of a lateral extension. Another consideration is light, because many buildings are hemmed in by other structures, meaning there would be less direct natural light getting through to a lateral extension or indeed a basement. The ‘lofty’ position of the top of the building is likely to be much more favourable.
Luxury interior designers in London can still have a key role to play in ensuring your loft looks great, of course. While large amounts of window space will be important in maximising the light factor, the décor and furnishings should also match this. For instance, such a room would be suited to lighter and brighter colours.
At the same time, as Simplyloft notes, decorating this space is not a simple task and plenty of ingenuity and creativity is needed to make the most of it. Because it is not a standard-shaped room with straight lines, but instead has various angles, slopes and corners, any design will need to take into account the specifics of the dimensions and shape.
