With climate change a major global conversation over 2021, the push towards modern, sustainable textiles and materials is likely to shape how homes this winter look.
Vintage reclaimed and recycled textiles are set to shape the looks of many homes as people reject mass-produced textiles and move towards more responsible business, recycling and upcycling, with items that look to the future and are set to last much longer than a single season.
Inspired By Nature
With Dulux’s colour of the year for 2022 being the light, fresh Bright Skies, the primary colour scheme for next year’s homes is likely to be far more inspired by the natural world than in previous years.
Part of this is a return to sustainable textures which tend to create a more naturalistic look, but also the use of soft greens, natural shades and earthy terracottas to help inspire a more harmonious connection to nature, often completed by the use of indoor plants and exposed timber.
A Return To Statement Pieces
The last two years has caused a widespread reflection on the purpose of the home in our lives, and whilst we have seen some 2020 trends disappear, one that is unlikely to leave anytime soon is the desire for our homes to reflect us as individuals.
As a result, we have seen the rise of statement pieces, often in the form of vintage desks and other furniture that has been upcycled, reclaimed, or bought at antique auctions.
